“ Went here for a quick drink before dinner and ended up staying for the entire night. It was very unassuming and we ended up finding it was our favourite place in VB. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely. We had plantaine, pork belly, and empinadas. It was all so delicious. Mojitos didn’t disappoint. I would highly recommend the rum flight. I had the Dominican version and it was so good. I can’t wait to go back. ”

“ You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not eat at this restaurant when visiting Virginia beach. To start the staff is excellent. Ellie at the front of the house has amazing energy and definitely makes you feel welcome and gives you great suggestions on what to order. She is one of the best customer facing servers I've had in as long as I can remember. Edwin the chef/owner is a master at his art. This menu is simple but everything is delicious. You could see how seriously he takes the preparation of the food. Lisa, the manager/owner, runs tight ship and make sure that everything is done to perfection. You can tell they've put a lot of time into the atmosphere of the restaurant. The place is small and cozy but is very comfortable and well appointed. Everything I ate here was very delicious and it's one of the restaurants kind of sends me into a bit of a depression because I know I will not be back in Virginia Beach to enjoy their food again anytime soon. I got to the restaurant near closing and didn't want to keep them any later than I already had so I asked what was already prepped and ready to go. I ended up ordering the bread pudding. I was told that they were out of whipped cream so Edwin was making it by hand. I felt bad but I'll tell you what, that whipped cream was delicious. The bread pudding was phenomenal. Edwin and Lisa please keep up the great work. ”

“ Hometown Hotspot. I am Virginia Beach born and bred and Mojito Cafe has such a special place in my heart. My boyfriend and I visited last month as a part of our anniversary celebration. I planned it and I was sooo glad Mojito Cafe was open. In years past they operated on a seasonal schedule so we didn’t always catch them when we would visit. So this trip was very nostalgic and sentimental. Cons: -This establishment is very small. Even before COVID seating was a little bit of a challenge (but it’s worth the wait). Because its was the end of January we ended up waiting at the Subway next door until we could be seated as it was cold and snowy outside. Although they don’t do reservations calling ahead is definitely recommended -My pernil from my entree was overly salted. It wasn’t unbearable but the balance with the rice and green beans were great -I love empanadas and the beef empanada was perfect. However, the other two pictured were in a flaky pastry crust and it made the chorizo dry and hard to taste. I’m not sure if they ran out of the traditional empanada pastry (we were the last party seated for the evening) or if that’s the option for the chorizo selection Pros: -COVID protocols were easily observant and due to the restaurants size you can easily see the chefs preparing your food -Obviously you have to get a mojito. They’re delicious!! -VALUE!Portion sizes are always plentiful and I’ve never left this place disappointed or without leftovers -This was my first time having the maduro pork bites and they were the perfect combination of savory and sweet. The red chimichurri sauce was my personal favorite -TASTE! Their sandwiches, vegetables, sides are all great. The only thing I can’t speak to is dessert because I’m usually full before I can order any. This small business is such a treat and I promise you won’t regret it! ”

“ Shout out to DANNY!! She was absolutely amazing. She explained different items on the menu, sat at the table with us and chatted, had a few laughs and shared a few stories. She told us the owner is from Philly, because I told her we were from Pennsylvania. The food!!!! Omg. He makes his own recipes etc. I had the seafood/chorizo paella, it was phenomenal. The margaritas were perfect, I would 100% visit again when we are in the area ”

“ Small place but the service and food was Amazing! Went for dinner and we had empanadas, beef was my favorite one, the ropa vieja with side of mofongo. I am from Puerto Rico and I have to admit this is one if not the best mofongo in Virginia Beach and the price is very good. My husband had the pork chop with tostones. We both had Mojitos but they were a bit on the sweet side for our taste. A very recommended spot. ”
